AED Pads & Batteries by Model: Complete Compatibility Guide

Every AED uses model-specific electrode pads and batteries. Pads from one model will not work in another, even from the same manufacturer — and ordering the wrong part is the most common mistake we see. This guide lists the exact replacement parts for every AED we carry, so you can match your device once and reorder with confidence.

How to identify your model: look at the front label of the device, or the label on the back near the battery compartment. The model name is printed there — for example "AED Plus", "HeartStart OnSite", or "LIFEPAK CR2". If you cannot find it, call us at 888-541-2337 and we will identify it from a photo.

Three compatibility rules worth knowing

  1. Pads are never cross-compatible between models. ZOLL Stat-padz II fit the AED Plus and AED Pro, but not the AED 3, which uses Uni-padz. Philips OnSite pads do not fit the FRx. Always match the model name, not just the brand.
  2. Some models bundle the pads and battery together. HeartSine's Pad-Pak is a single cartridge containing both, with one expiration date. That makes tracking simpler, but it also means an expired battery forces a pad replacement and vice versa.
  3. Pediatric coverage works three different ways. Some models use separate pediatric pads (ZOLL, Philips OnSite, Powerheart, Defibtech), the Philips FRx uses an Infant/Child Key with the adult pads left in place, and the ZOLL AED 3 and LIFEPAK CR2 handle both patient sizes from a single electrode set.

How often to replace

Pads generally run 2 to 5 years and batteries 2 to 5 years in standby, but the interval varies by model — and both should be replaced immediately after any deployment, even one where no shock was delivered. For the full brand-by-brand breakdown, see how often you should replace AED pads and batteries.

When you buy pads or a battery from us, we contact you 90, 60 and 30 days before they expire, so a lapse never takes you by surprise.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use pads from a different AED model?

No. AED electrode pads are engineered for a specific device and connector, and the AED will not operate correctly with pads it does not recognise. Always order by your exact model name.

Do AED pads and batteries expire if they are never used?

Yes. The conductive gel in the pads dries out and the electrodes corrode over time, and batteries drain in standby as the AED runs its self-tests. Both carry printed expiration dates that apply whether or not the device has been used.

What do I replace after using my AED in a rescue?

Always replace the pads, even if no shock was delivered. Depending on how long the device was running, the battery may also need to be evaluated or replaced.

Does my AED need separate pediatric pads?

It depends on the model. ZOLL, Philips OnSite, Powerheart and Defibtech units use separate pediatric pads; the Philips FRx uses an Infant/Child Key; and the ZOLL AED 3 and LIFEPAK CR2 cover both patient sizes from one electrode set.
