One electrode for every patient
The CPR Uni-padz III is a single universal electrode covering both adult and paediatric patients — there is no separate paediatric pad to buy, store or let expire. That removes the single most common inspection failure on other models, where the rarely-used paediatric set quietly goes out of date.
It also means the AED 3's pads are not interchangeable with the AED Plus. Stat-padz II and CPR-D-padz fit the AED Plus and AED Pro; the AED 3 takes Uni-padz only.
The smart battery
The AED 3 battery 8000-000696 is unusual in a useful way: it carries an LCD power-level display on the pack itself, plus Wi-Fi transmission for readiness reporting, and is rated for a 5-year life.
The LCD matters more than it sounds. On most AEDs you infer battery health from a pass/fail indicator and the printed date. Here you can read the actual charge level off the pack — which is genuinely helpful when a unit has been deployed and you need to decide whether the battery still has useful life or should be replaced.
Replacement intervals
The battery is rated at five years. Check the printed date on your Uni-padz and replace them by it, or immediately after any deployment — even one where no shock was advised.
