Ambu SureSight Mobile Video Laryngoscope: Video Airway Management Built for EMS and Fire

First-pass success is the number that matters in emergency airway management. Every additional intubation attempt increases the risk of hypoxia, aspiration, and worse patient outcomes — and in the back of a moving ambulance, on a poorly lit scene, or in direct sunlight, a traditional direct laryngoscope asks a lot of even the most experienced provider. That is exactly the problem video laryngoscopy was built to solve, and it is why we are excited to bring the Ambu SureSight Mobile Video Laryngoscope to AED Professionals.

What Is the Ambu SureSight Mobile?

The SureSight Mobile is Ambu's handheld video laryngoscope designed specifically for pre-hospital care. Rather than relying on a direct line of sight to the vocal cords, the provider views the airway on a 3.5-inch anti-glare touchscreen fed by a camera at the tip of a single-use blade. The result is a clear, magnified view of airway anatomy that the whole team can share — during emergent intubations, difficult airways, and everything in between.

Ambu built the SureSight Mobile around the realities of EMS, fire, and critical care transport work:

  • Sunlight mode and adjustable brightness keep the airway view usable on scene, in the rig, or in full daylight — a common failure point for older video laryngoscopes.
  • A 200-degree tilting screen lets the provider position the display for any patient presentation, from the floor of a residence to the bench seat of an ambulance.
  • An anti-fog camera lens and built-in LED maintain image quality in the humid, high-stress conditions where fogging usually strikes.
  • Exchangeable rechargeable batteries deliver up to 100 minutes of use per charge, so a battery swap — not a dead device — is the worst-case scenario on a long shift.
  • An audible click confirms blade attachment, giving the provider a tactile ready-check before the attempt begins.

Document and Verify Every Intubation

Quality assurance is becoming a standard expectation in EMS airway programs, and the SureSight Mobile makes it simple. Providers can capture still images (.jpeg) and video (.mp4) to internal storage at the push of a button, then review the recording on the device itself — no laptop, no file transfer, no waiting until the end of the call. For medical directors and training officers, that means real footage for case review and skills verification instead of relying on memory and narrative documentation alone.

SureSight Mobile Kit vs. Mini Kit: Which Configuration Fits Your Service?

The SureSight Mobile is available in two configurations, both listed on our product page:

  • SureSight Mobile Kit (Item 390471000): The complete station-ready package — SureSight Mobile display, two rechargeable batteries, soft-shell carry case, two-slot battery charger, and data cable. This is the right starting point for a service adding video laryngoscopy for the first time.
  • SureSight Mobile Mini Kit (Item 390481000): The display, two rechargeable batteries, and carry case. Ideal for departments that already have SureSight charging infrastructure in place and are adding a second or third unit to the fleet.

Blades are sold separately and are required for use. Single-use SureSight blades cover both adult and pediatric patients, eliminate reprocessing between calls, and are compatible with both the SureSight Mobile and SureSight Connect platforms — so blade inventory stays simple even in mixed fleets.

Beyond the display and blades, we stock the full SureSight accessory line so your service can standardize:

Why Video Laryngoscopy Belongs in Pre-Hospital Care

Direct laryngoscopy will always have a place, but the case for video in the field keeps getting stronger. A shared screen turns a solo skill into a team effort — a partner can watch the attempt, anticipate suction or bougie needs, and confirm tube passage in real time. Difficult anatomy that would demand repositioning and repeated attempts under direct visualization is often manageable on the first pass with a hyperangulated video view. And recorded footage closes the loop between the call and the training room.

For fire departments and EMS agencies evaluating the investment, it is also worth knowing that airway equipment frequently qualifies under equipment-focused grant programs. If budget is the obstacle, our guide to grant funding for lifesaving equipment is a good place to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do SureSight blades work with both SureSight platforms?

Yes. Single-use SureSight blades are compatible with both the SureSight Mobile and SureSight Connect, in adult and pediatric sizes.

How long does the battery last?

Each rechargeable battery provides up to 100 minutes of continuous use, and batteries swap in seconds. Both kits ship with two batteries.

Can we review recordings on the device?

Yes. The SureSight Mobile records images and video to internal storage and offers on-device playback, with a data cable available for transferring files for QA and training.

How do we get pricing for our department?

SureSight Mobile pricing is quoted based on configuration and volume. Visit the product page or call 888-541-2337 and our team will spec the right package for your service.
