  • Gently place the person on their back and tilt their head back to open the airway.

Step 2 - Spray

  • Gently insert the device into one nostril and press the plunger firmly to release the medication.
  • Keep the person’s head tilted back to ensure the medication is delivered effectively.

The Importance

Narcan is a leading company dedicated to providing naloxone, a life-saving medication that reverses the effects of opioid overdoses. Narcan's nasal spray delivers a precise dose of naloxone that quickly enters the bloodstream through the nasal passages. Once administered, naloxone rapidly binds to the same receptors in the brain that opioids attach to, blocking their effects and restoring normal breathing within two to three minutes. This fast action makes Narcan an essential tool for first responders, healthcare providers, and bystanders, giving them the ability to intervene during life-threatening emergencies when every second counts.

Narcan’s nasal spray is designed for simplicity and safety, requiring no medical training to use. The device delivers a single, pre-measured dose with one spray, making it easy to administer in high-stress situations. It is FDA-approved and recommended by the CDC as a first-line treatment for opioid overdoses due to its proven effectiveness and safety profile. Because Narcan has no effect if opioids are not present, it can be used even when an overdose is uncertain, empowering communities, schools, workplaces, and families to act confidently. Through its mission, Narcan continues to expand access to naloxone and provide life-saving tools that help combat the ongoing opioid crisis.
