Description

Maintenance Made Easy! Expiration Reminders included with Every AED Pad & Battery Purchase.

The FRx and Onsite defibrillator uses a disposable, lithium manganese dioxide, long-life battery with a five-year shelf life plus a (typical) four-year installed life. A spare battery should be stored with the defibrillator. Additional batteries should be purchased for defibrillators used frequently for training and/or demonstrations.

The sealed lithium manganese dioxide battery used to power the HeartStart FRx defibrillator is provided in a pack that Philips FRx battery installation fits into a compartment on the back of the defibrillator. Do not crush the battery. Do not expose the battery to high heat or open flames. Do not incinerate the battery. Do not mutilate the battery or open the battery case. Install the battery in the defibrillator before the date "Install by" date shown on the associated label. This battery is non-rechargeable. Do not try to recharge, open, crush, or burn the battery, or it may explode or catch fire.

Battery Installation: Open the battery package and remove the battery. Place the bottom end (A) of the battery into the bottom of the compartment on the back of the FRx, then firmly press down the top (latch) end of the battery into the compartment, until it clicks into place (B). FRx Battery Installation is that simple.

If you install your battery by the "Install by" date, your battery will last 4 years in standby mode. If battery is installed after this date, the life will be less than 4 years.

Each of the batteries are designed to have a 4 year life in standby mode (5 year typical in FR2.) This time is reduced when the device/battery is in use or delivering shocks. As an example, in the case of the FR2 series, the battery is specified to provide 720 use minutes or 300 shocks or a minimum of 4 years in standby (5 years typical). Standby mode means that the battery is installed but is not used, only self tests are being performed. The standby life will be reduced if your device is used on a patient or if it is used for training purposes.

The HeartStart (also branded Heartstream) FRx and HS1 series (HeartStart Defibrillator; Home and OnSite) defibrillators use long-life lithium batteries. When a low battery is detected, the unit will start chirping and the status indicator will change from the ready for use state. The "i" button on the front of the HS1 and FRx device will provide you with the status of your battery.
Note: these defibrillators use chirps and a flashing "i" button to alert you of problems.
