Primary statute: NJSA §§ 2A:62A-23 to 2A:62A-27; Janet's Law (NJSA 18A:40-41a — schools)

Good Samaritan Protection	Conditional civil immunity for AED program owners; protection depends on compliance with statutory requirements.
Medical Direction	Required. Programs must have a licensed physician providing medical direction.
Training	Required. Designated responders must be certified in CPR/AED use.
Maintenance & Testing	Required per manufacturer guidelines.
EMS Notification	Required. AED locations must be reported to local EMS.
Placement Mandates	Required in K-12 public and nonpublic schools (Janet's Law) and in licensed health clubs.

Practical note: Janet's Law (named for Janet Zilinski, a 7th-grade student lost to sudden cardiac arrest) is one of the most comprehensive school AED mandates in the country. NJ health clubs face fines for non-compliance.
