How We Calculate Total Cost of Ownership
Total Cost of Ownership reflects what an AED actually costs to keep rescue-ready for the full period — not just the day you buy it.
The formula: TCO = Purchase Price + (Battery Replacements × Battery Price) + (Pad Replacements × Pad Price)
Replacement counts are driven by manufacturer shelf life: replacements = ceil(years ÷ shelf life) − 1. A 5-year battery over 10 years needs one replacement; a 2-year pad set needs four.
Some units (the HeartSine Samaritan line) combine the battery and pads into a single Pad-Pak cartridge, so one consumable covers both.
Prices reflect AED Professionals catalog pricing and manufacturer specifications and are updated periodically. Figures exclude training, cabinets, mounts, program-management services, and active promotions. For a guaranteed, line-item quote, call 888-541-2337.
