SAM Medical’s story began with Dr. Sam Scheinberg, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and former trauma surgeon who served in Vietnam, and his wife, Cherrie Scheinberg. Drawing from his experience treating traumatic injuries, Dr. Scheinberg recognized the need for a lightweight, adaptable alternative to traditional splints.
That idea led to the development of the SAM® Splint, introduced in 1985 and ultimately becoming the foundation of SAM Medical. What started with one innovative solution has grown into more than 40 years of developing practical products for emergency and trauma care.
Today, SAM Medical continues to build on the same problem-solving approach that inspired its original splint, combining practical design with decades of experience in emergency medicine.
