AED Grants for Nonprofits
Churches, community centers, youth sports leagues, and service organizations bring people together every week. This guide covers the funders most likely to support an AED for a nonprofit and how to make your request easy to approve.
Funders That Fit Nonprofits
Community Foundations
Search your county or city name plus "community foundation." Many run small-grant cycles suited to a one- or two-unit request.
Civic and Service Clubs
Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, Elks, and VFW posts fund local safety projects and often move quickly on modest asks.
Corporate Giving
Local employers, banks, utilities, and hospitals frequently support community health projects. Ask about employee donation matching too.
Faith-Based Funds
Denominational offices and faith-based foundations sometimes fund safety equipment for congregations and their programs.
Youth Sports Associations
Leagues can approach their governing associations, local businesses, and parent fundraising together.
Community Fundraising
Raffles, walks, and local business nights have funded many AED placements, often combined with a partial grant.
Eligibility varies. Some funders require 501(c)(3) status; others work with a fiscal sponsor. Confirm before you apply.
Building a Strong Nonprofit Request
Describe Who You Serve
Weekly attendance, the ages of the people you serve, programs held on site, and how far the nearest existing AED is. Specific numbers carry more weight than general statements.
Show the Whole Program
Placement location, who will be trained, how the unit is maintained, and how it is registered with local EMS. A request that covers a cabinet, signage, and spare pads shows you have planned for the long term.
Ask for the Right Amount
Match your request to what the funder actually awards and to an itemized quote. An exact, documented number is stronger than a rounded estimate.
Nonprofit AED Grant Questions
Do we need 501(c)(3) status to get an AED grant?
Not always. Many foundations require it, but civic clubs and corporate donors often fund other community organizations, and a fiscal sponsor can open doors where status is required.
Can a church get an AED grant?
Yes. Congregations commonly receive AED funding from community foundations, civic clubs, denominational funds, and members' employer match programs.
Should we combine a grant with fundraising?
Often, yes. Showing that your community has raised part of the cost can strengthen a grant request, and some funders offer matching grants built around exactly that.
