Slishman Traction Splint, Femur Fracture Traction Device

SKU: 10-1270UCASE
$239.00

Description

The Slishman Traction Splint applies traction to a fractured femur by pushing from the hip rather than anchoring at the ankle. That single design difference matters enormously in practice: it means the splint can be used on a patient with an ankle, foot, or lower leg injury on the same limb, which is precisely the patient traditional traction splints cannot serve.

Why it fits your program

Femur fractures rarely arrive alone. High-energy mechanisms produce ipsilateral lower leg trauma often enough that ankle-anchored traction is contraindicated on a meaningful share of the calls it was bought for. Slishman removes that limitation and packs down small, which is why it is common with search and rescue teams, wilderness and mountain services, tactical medics, and ground units that have run out of compartment space.

  • 10-1270UCASE: Splint Compact STS-C with case
  • 10-5000CASE: Splint Gen 2 STS with case
  • Neoprene outer tube strap, traction cord, and pressure wrap

Compatibility

The Slishman splint is a standalone traction device requiring no pump or accessory. It works on a patient who also has lower leg, ankle, or foot injury, unlike ankle-anchored traction splints. Use it alongside EVAC-U-SPLINT or FASPLINT extremity splints for other limbs, and with the CombiCarrier II or a vacuum mattress for spinal precautions and transport. The Compact STS-C is the smaller pack option, Gen 2 STS the standard configuration.

Program context

Traction splint application is a low-frequency skill, so include a femur fracture scenario in your annual skills cycle rather than assuming the technique holds. Confirm which configuration your crews trained on and standardize across the fleet, because the Compact and Gen 2 handle differently. Inspect the traction cord and strap condition on your routine equipment check.
